Each of these images is a 1/144th (that's one inch square, from 12 x 12 - get it?) section of an aged, sometimes well-worn, but always well-loved record cover. The records were selected from my personal collection and the collections of friends who picked out their own favorite record album art. Along with the admiration of the cover art itself, for the current owner there comes a certain growing, sentimental value for what the physical object has become over time, from it's journey out of the manufacturer's hands and into your own.

Curiosity of the actual printing process has led me to digitally scanning the covers and enlarging them to examine the details put on by the mass-production machinery. By doing this, not only is the process of applying ink to paper revealed, but the overall wear and tear of the record is magnified, thereby displaying the age of the object, as if it were the telling rings of a tree trunk.

The heart of this project stems from my love of vinyl records and analog audio, embracing the compulsion to obtain, organize, trade and maintain a beautiful, and always-entertaining record collection.
